The Royal Spanish Academy is the institution that for hundreds of years has defined the rules of the Spanish language and the "correct" use of its words. But when it comes to the use of new words, it can be very discriminatory. This is the case with "drag" language, which has influenced and promoted contemporary culture for decades, but whose terms aren't officially recognized in Spanish. Language gives life and identity to persons and ideas, and omissions such as these aren't helpful to minorities.
In response, Kwai, the short video app, created an in-app "Dragapedia" of the "Royal Drag Academy," consisting of takeaways videos with various terms defined by popular drag queens in the underground scene.
and even an ebook with the terms and illustrations.
Then, Royal Drag Academy took over a nightclub and turned it into a real academy
where people could better understand drag LATAM culture.
